EAC Failure Error - Reason 5

If you are receiving any error that has to do with the Ashes of Creation Early Alpha Two game files, the first troubleshooting step is verify the integrity of game files.

These are some errors you may see, and the common fixes for them.

To validate the game files:

 

  • Make sure that both the game and launcher are closed
  • Right click Ashes of Creation in your Library
  • Select Properties
  
  • Click on Installed Files
  • Click on Verify integrity of game files

 

  
  • The verification process will run through to completion 
  

 

  • Steam may reinstall some files 
  • Once the verification process completes, start up Ashes of Creation

   Please note: It make a few tries of the verification process to fix the issue. If you still receive the error after verifying, run the process again. 

 

Security Software

Some players have reported that disabling or uninstalling their McAfee or other security software can resolve the Unknown File Version (AOCClient.exe) error. This is due the security software blocking the game from connecting to verify the game files. 

If removing or disabling your security software resolves the issue, we recommend you contact the security software maker to get an updated version. Optionally, you can choose to use a different security software.
